Access Statement for Green Barn



 

Introduction

Green Barn is part of Lois Country Cottages, and one of two self catering holiday units located on Lois Farm. This access statement is to help provide visitors with as much information as possible.

 
Pre-Arrival

• We have a website and a colour brochure 
• Enquiries and bookings can be made by phone or e-mail
• The nearest train station is Templecombe (3 miles)
• Taxis can be ordered from the station platform or we can book one in advance for you
• Wincanton is the nearest town (3 miles by car)
• Horsington is our nearest village (1.4 miles)
• Written directions on how to find Lois Farm are sent to all visitors.  

 
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• There is a private car park adjacent to Green and Blue Barns which is reached down a 20 metres drive through gates 
• There is space for up to 4 cars with room for rear access to the vehicles
• The surface is grassed but firm and slightly uneven
• Leading from the car park through a small gate width 84cms, is a paved straight path for 15 metres and 1 metre wide. 
• Green Barn is facing.
• At night there is a light to illuminate this path. 
• On arrival there will always be someone to show you around and help with luggage.

 
Main Entrance

• The front door is hinged on the left, half glazed and is 71 cms wide 2.00 metres high with a 5cms step leading into the hall with a doormat

 
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

• The hall corridor is approximately 1.65 metres wide and 5 metres long and the floor is carpeted with a short light pink pile
• The hall way has a runner and the lighting is a mixture of daylight from a skylight and artificial light from overhead plus a table lamp on a chest. On the right is a 9 cms step leading to a left hinged half glazed door width 70 cms opening to the lounge
• On the left is an airing cupboard and then a door width 70cms right hinged opening inwards to a bathroom/toilet
• At the end of the hall is another left hinged half glazed door width 70cms opening inwards to the kitchen diner.
• Leading from this end of the corridor and on the right are the stairs leading to the first floor. 
• The width of the stairs is 76 cms and the rise is 18cms a step. There are two steps then a 90 degree right angle turn with 9 more steps. There is a cupboard under these stairs 
• There is a smoke alarm in the corridor. The decor is off white
• Upstairs there is a corridor, 1 metre wide joining up two double bedrooms with a bathroom at the centre point. There is a smoke alarm on the ceiling.

 
Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

• The lounge has varnished floorboards unpolished with a contemporary wool rug in the middle of the room. On the right side of the room is a large window with 3 panels of glass 2.4metres x 1.35metres.This view overlooks the courtyard and allows a large degree of daylight to enter the room. A secondary window overlooks the patio. In addition there are two uplighter lights with a switch by the door.
• The decor is off white with a 1.8metre square framed mirror on the facing wall.  
• The furniture consists of a large sofa and three chairs with padded seats and arms. There is a coffee table and two side tables. There is a wood burner stove recessed into the wall 80cms x 61cms. To the right of the wood burner are 4 bookshelves reaching a height of 1.5metres and 1.30 metres width. On the bottom shelf we have a TV with freeview, DVD player and video player. A basket of logs is to the left of the wood burner. 


Outdoor Facilities

• Exiting from the kitchen diner through 1.13 metres wide patio doors there is one step 13cms down to the patio with paving stones. Built over the patio area is a canopy suspending vine and ivy plants. This growth gives shade below for the seating area. The garden furniture consists of a circular wooden table two wooden benches and six plastic chairs. Leading from the patio is a small lawn fenced from a field and views over the countryside. At night there is a light that illuminates the patio and the switch is inside the patio doors on the right wall.

 
Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

• UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS
• Bedroom 1
• At the top of the stairs turn left to a double bedroom. One metre from the entrance the floor level rises 4 cms with a small step. The door is hinged on the left and the opening is 71cms. The floor is carpeted with a short light pink pile and there is one cross beam with 1.95 metres head clearance. The two single pine beds 1.95metres long, 90cms wide, 30cms high are separated by 1.20metres. There is a built in cupboard measuring 1.20metres by 1.80metres. Windows from one end of the room provide daylight with one overhead light and two table lamps by the side of the beds. Two chairs and a chest of drawers 90cms wide and 75cms high with mirror are at the opposite end of the room from the windows. The decor is off white and the floor is carpeted with a short light brown pile with bedside rugs.
• Bedroom 2
• Bedroom 2, a double, is reached by turning right at the top of the stairs. The opening is 74 cms wide with headroom 1.92 metres and the door is hinged to the left. The floor is carpeted with a short light pink pile with bedside rugs and the two single pine beds 1.95metres long, 90cms wide,30cms high are separated by 1.20metres.There is a fitted cupboard to the left of the door measuring 1.20 metres wide by 2.10 metres high. Two simple chairs without arms, two bedside tables, two bedside lamps make up the remaining furniture. There is an overhead light with a switch by the door. A mirror is on the wall and the decor is off white.


• GROUNDFLOOR BEDROOM
• Bedroom 3
• A 71cms opening gap from the kitchen with door hinged on the left leads to the downstairs double bedroom. A 1.95metres x 1.50 metres x 43cms high king size bed is accompanied by two bedside tables and two table lamps. At one end of the room next to the window is a 1.8 metres wide by 1.20 metres high antique pine chest of drawers with free standing mirror on the top surface. A canvas wardrobe 1.80 metres high by 1.20 metres wide and two simple chairs complete the furniture. A runner and two bedside rugs cover the floor of varnished but not polished floor boards and the decor is off white. There are two uplighter lights on the walls with a switch to the left of the door. The ensuite bathroom is entered from the opposite side to the kitchen door and the entry size is 61cms wide with a right hinged door.

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

• GROUND FLOOR SHOWER BATHROOM
• The bathroom on the ground floor is en-suite to the bedroom and can also be reached from the corridor. Locks are on both doors and can be opened if necessary from the outside. Entrance width from hall is 71cms and from bedroom 61cms.
• The step into the shower cubicle is 25cms and the shower door width is 43cms
• The height of the power shower is 160cms.
• The floor is covered with non slip vinyl  with the toilet seat 44cms high and the sink height 86cms. There are two mirrors and a shaving socket 120cms high.
• The light and extractor fan work in conjunction
• UPSTAIRS BATHROOM
• The bathroom is off the hall with a 66cms entrance width. The ceiling slopes to the right from a height of 1.95 metres to a height of 1.05 metres The floor is non slip vinyl with the toilet seat 44cms high and the sink height 86cms. The bath is 1.50 metres long, 60cms high, 69cms wide with grip handles.
• Above the sink is a mirror and light/shaver point
• The light and extractor fan work in conjunction
• The door lock can be opened if necessary from the outside

 
Self-Catering Kitchen

• KITCHEN/DINER
• The kitchen/diner is open plan with sink, dishwasher, washing machine along  a 2.7 metres wall with windows above the sink, At right angles to this wall for 4.2 metres is another work surface incorporating cupboards, cooker and hob and fridge. The work surfaces are 92cms high and 60cms in depth.
• On the other facing wall is a dresser 1.20 metres wide by 2.1 metres high.
• At the other end of the room is a farm house table with six armless padded chairs. The table stands 75cms high and the surface is 1.80 metres by 1.20 metres.
• The decor is off white with imitation wood vinyl on the floor. Six spotlights give even illumination with daylight from the french windows near the dining area. 
• Standard catering crockery is stored in the cupboards with glasses and cups etc on the dresser. There is a microwave, coffee maker and toaster.
• A fire blanket is placed on the wall between the door and the dresser. Two bins and a food waste container are available.

• The premises are no smoking and pets are not permitted
• Central heating is throughout with radiators in every room controlled by thermostats.
• Hot water is available 24 hours
